Akhisar Economy
INTRODUCTION
Today, Akhisar is a modern city with more than 80,000
people. The economy mostly depends on agricultural products. The city resides on the State
Highway 565 between Izmir and Istanbul, two important ports of Asia Minor. Easy access to
big business centers generally hides somewhat higher unemployment, which stems from the
shrinking agriculture dependent economy. Fortunately, there is a significantly increasing
trend in industrial investment in the region. Akhisar Industrial Zone is an
initiative for investors who wish to take advantage of the attractive benefits offered by

AKHISAR INDUSTRIAL ZONE
Akhisar Industrial Zone is recently under construction.

- Subsidized Credits amounting up to 40% of the fixed
investment with 30% annual interest
- Government support for foreign credit security letter

- Cost effective transportation cost as the zone is located
on the main highway and the main railroad between Istanbul and Izmir, two major
import/export ports in Turkey

TOBACCO IN AKHISAR
ECONOMY
The region is especially famous for its tobacco
production. Tobacco is usually recalled along with "Akhisar" name throughout the

OTHER AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS
Among the important agricultural products are olives and
olive oil, wheat, cotton, grapes and melon and raisins. Zeytinliova region is world-famous
with its high-quality olives, (zeytinliova = land with olive(s) or olive tree(s)).
NATURAL RESOURCES
The land is very rich in water resources. These resources
are utilized in agricultural irrigation and providing drinking water to Izmir, (the third
largest city in Turkiye). The land contains coal mines some amounts of iron ore, graphite
and chrome sources.
Akhisar has a unique type of marble quarried only in the
region. Its unique features, color and look exhibits a perfect match with tan, beige and
other shades of brown, creating unique decorative scents.
